Employees travelling by boat to work onboard oil and gas rigs drilling for Perenco in Cameroon have received training on survival at sea and travelling safely by boat. Over thirty employees took part in the training session that was held in Douala CameroonThe training lasted for two days. It was delivered by Hy-Classe Training Cameroon and mirrored standards of the offshore petroleum industry organization

Participants during the training sessions were schooled on the different techniques of surviving at sea and evacuating an offshore installation in cases of emergency. The participants made use of life-saving equipment offshore, simulated evacuation scenarios practice the seven steps to survival. Carried out firefighting exercises, fighting against Hypothermia, emergency Signals and pyrotechnics, Man overboard, alert and rescue, Alert organization, evacuation organization, jumping in the water procedures, using the ladder/net, boarding the life raft and surviving in water.
Elvis Ashukem is a participant who attended the training course on travelling safely by boat and survival at sea. According to him, the training has given him indispensable knowledge in surviving at sea. “We have been living by the grace of God while offshore without this training. Should something have had happened, many casualties could have been registered. This training has really helped in taking us out of obscurity regarding survival at sea. I thank Hy-Classe Training immensely for this training course. I pray that the company should continue in like manner”
 
Azangue Elisee, another employee who attended the training session, lauded the professionalism of the trainers. “When we told we had to come for a training course, I never imagined it was going to be this tough. It is a very challenging training and the trainer too is wonderful, he is a coach, a guide, a teacher and knows how to motivate people.
